KuneKune Pigs

KuneKunes (pronounced Cooney Cooney) are a small breed of domesticated pig. They are known for their short snouts and round bellies and stubby legs. While they are not "miniature", they are smaller than most breeds of pigs, but can still weigh upwards of 200+ pounds. Chin tassels or "wattles" are favored for the breed. They have long lives and can live to 16 years old. Their litters range but typically have 6-12 piglets per litter. They are great foragers, but are not rough on pastures like some breeds, in fact they are known to be a grazing pig breed with minimal rooting. While mostly breed as companions or farm pets, they are beginning to get credit for their meat as well. They tend to have great marbling like a beef steak.
